This challenge is from winner Mis-BUG. He wants you to show a literal interpretation of a rock-paper-scissors battle. Anything is fine, as long as it clearly depicts a physical battle between two of the objects (as oppose to an abstraction of a battle using hand gestures). So, for example; your image could show a giant rock falling on a man holding a pair of scissors.

The objects don't need to react like they do normally, so your entry might show a piece of paper somehow destroying a pair of scissors. Also, you may show the same object twice (ie. a rock vs. a rock).

Canvas Size - Max 200 x 250. Either horizontal or vertical.
Colours - Max 16.
Transparency - No.
Animation - Optional.

The challenge thread will have all the challenge updates. The thread is also a great place to post your WIPs.

Since joining Pixeljoint in early 2007 Stickman has built himself a great pixelart gallery with some of the most entertaining and outstanding animations to be found in the entire gallery.

Stickman began experimenting with animation in Secondary School using an ION camera (1 frame per second) and by the time he finished College, (BTEC-General Art and Design) he solely focused in animation and film-making using amiga dpaint, scratch film, cardboard cut outs, stop motion and various styles of 2D images using cine cameras.

Make a top ten list based on a subject matter of your choosing and represent those things in the form of a piece of pixel art. Just make sure it's clear what your list is, what items are in your list and what order they are in (everything should have a number between 1 and 10). You can add these details in your description if you like.

The way you present your top ten is up to you; so you could scatter your top ten around a large canvas or maybe animate it in the form of a countdown. Just keep in mind that even though the canvas size and colour count are unrestricted, you needn't go overboard.

A few possible ideas to get you started:

  • Your top ten movies of last year.
  • Your top ten favourite foods.
  • Your top ten IKEA products that contain an umlaut it their name.
***CHALLENGE UPDATE***

Your list may now include a minimum of 3 items and a maximum of 10.

Canvas size - Unrestricted
Colours - Unrestricted.
Transparency - Optional.
Animation - Optional.

A year ago we did hands, now it's time to draw feet. As per the hands challenge, the foot/feet need to be the main focus of the piece. Also, only human feet and no socks/shoes/other footwear - just a bare foot (or feet). Have fun and don't forget creativity.

Also, have a look at this tutorial on drawing feet.

Canvas Size - Max 170 x 170.
Colours - Max 16.
Transparency - Optional.
Animation - No.

Pixel Joint was down from about 7:30AM to the end of the day on Tuesday. I'll set up a better notification system so future outages won't go unattended so long. Sorry about that folks.

This year is the International Year of Forests. So, to kick things off this year, you are challenged to pixel a scene set sometime in the future, depicting the last remaining forest on Earth.

It may be a forest preserved in an ancient history exhibit 5000 years from now; or maybe it's a forest that exists in such a remote location, that it has so far remained untouched by humans.

Anyway, I'm sure you guys can come up with better ideas; but your image should clearly show that it is Earth's final forest. If it is in any way unclear, you should explain your idea in your description.

Canvas size - Max 150 x 100. Either horizontal or vertical.
Colours - Exactly 11.
Transparency - Optional.
Animation - No.
