I spent more time on this than I originally wanted. Just added more and more details.
But it was fun to optimize the little details, although quit time consuming

increible robot

user
Cephei (Level 1 Intern) @ 2/9/2016 11:10

I don't know why, but my absolute fav part of this is the water sloshing around in the brain jar.

user
philippejugnet (Level 6 Hitman) @ 1/25/2016 07:44

every bit of pixel is animated!

user
saulc12 (Level 6 Serial Killer) @ 10/27/2015 09:29

Not seen this before, that's some super fluid animation there - amazing work.

Lyud (Level 2 Dealer) @ 3/6/2015 14:04

My fav artist!

user
Micah (Level 1 Depressed) @ 2/27/2015 19:28

=Q__ awesome animation vierbit!

user
Shackhal (Level 4 Deputy) @ 2/10/2015 23:01

Superb animation! Really fluid and depth! Awesome.

user
vierbit (Level 1 Rookie) @ 1/26/2015 19:14

Thanks for the comments. It turned out more popular than I thought.

@ptoing
Yeah, something with the horizontal cylinder is of. It rotates a bit too much.
The wobble on the top of the glass should indicate the tilting of the cylinder.
@Volrak_Rutra
No 3D software involved.
@Lordofsax
ptoing pretty much explained it already. The head, main body and the legs were animated seperatly. The swinging
hoses and a few other details were added at the end.
@rrrod
probably about 8-9 hours

user
BathMaster_2000 (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 1/26/2015 04:02

we all knew this was going to win.

user
rrrod (Level 2 Dealer) @ 1/25/2015 09:39

Damn, the animation is superb. How much time did you spend on this?

user
W M (Level 1 Thug) @ 1/24/2015 13:59

Such fluid animation and tons of details to boot, I keep finding more things I love about this every time I look at it. Great job!

user
James McCarter (Level 5 Lieutenant) @ 1/23/2015 01:00

That's really nice.  I push and pull of the screen right rear leg is great.

Thanks for the advice. :)

pyxl (Level 1 Intern) @ 1/22/2015 14:34

The fluidity of the animation reminds of of metal slug. it's astounding, and it's obvious that you won this bish.

Veto (Level 4 Murderer) @ 1/22/2015 12:29

Well, we know who won this contest :p

user
ptoing (Level 7 Underboss) @ 1/21/2015 07:02

Lordofsax: When animating something with lots of moving parts/secondary motion you should always break things down and not try to animate everything at once. As a good example: When old Disney animators animated Pluto they would animate the tail in the very end when everything else was generally done. By doing that they assured that it reflected Pluto's motion and feelings accurately, which would be harder to do if you tried doing it at the same time as everything else.

catf0x (Level 1 Intern) @ 1/20/2015 16:23

Ummmm, holy shit!

user
Lordofsax (Level 2 Peon) @ 1/20/2015 16:22

This is so good. Have you got any advice on animating so many details while still keeping them consistent? I wish I could animate something this good.

user
Squirrelsquid (Level 4 Shichikyu) @ 1/20/2015 09:28

So much detail, so fluidly animated... Now make a game where you can blast up hordes of them! <3

user
Mathias (Level 5 Rokkyu) @ 1/20/2015 07:10

Father!?

user
TheManuz (Level 5 Killer Klown) @ 1/20/2015 04:36

The smoothness... i cannot stand it!

EDIT: the more i look at it, the more i see... the shines, the shadows... cables swinging, antenna wiggling. Beautiful!

user
Zeenix (Level 1 Rookie) @ 1/20/2015 01:48

Stunning! The animation is so smooth.

user
Eldboll (Level 4 Murderer) @ 1/20/2015 01:31

So smoooooth.

user

I want to see a WIP. That's Amazing.

user
Volrak_Rutra (Level 6 SWAT) @ 1/19/2015 21:21

wow, so smooth! hard to believe this is done without 3d software. it is though, right? you get my vote.

user
orange08 (Level 3 Hatchikyu) @ 1/19/2015 16:10

Who do you think is going to win the Brain Bot challenge?! xD

user
Doyoudigworms (Level 1 Intern) @ 1/19/2015 14:53

Great consistency all around. The fluidity of the brainbot animation coupled with the overall attention detail makes for a great piece and quite the original submission! The foreshortening on the legs and the cylindrical remote pack are particularly stellar.

user
Delicious (Level 8 Regional Boss) @ 1/19/2015 14:45

Glorious!

BathMaster_2000 (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 1/19/2015 14:39

user
msdeerborn (Level 1 Thug) @ 1/19/2015 13:19

this is amazing! i love the little details of the animation, like the liquid sloshing around, impressive that it's 12 frames! it's so fluid!

user
yaa (Level 1 Rookie) @ 1/19/2015 12:24

Fabulous

user
Sylon (Level 1 Depressed) @ 1/19/2015 12:06

You only like to produce good pixel art.

user
albertov (Level 4 Button Man) @ 1/19/2015 10:12

Wow, man, perfect palette and animation! Maybe you could make the 4th leg completely dark.

user
Mandrill (Level 8 Partner) @ 1/19/2015 08:15

The pixel year 2015 is already a total success!

user
EZKOI (Level 5 Sniper) @ 1/19/2015 08:08

Amazing!

user
Hapiel (Level 11 Admiral) @ 1/19/2015 05:42

user
Iscalio (Level 4 Deputy) @ 1/19/2015 05:08

Dat hose jiggle.

user
Sir Cutswood (Level 1 Depressed) @ 1/19/2015 03:42

Thank you for making the challenge unwinnable for anyone else.

user
ptoing (Level 7 Underboss) @ 1/19/2015 01:56

Nice to see some new stuff from you. And great stuff at that.

The cylinder with the antenna on it seems to rotate more than the body. Did you measure that or just guestimate?

Also the wobble on top of the glass(2) container seems a bit odd to me.

user
Stickman (Level 6 SWAT) @ 1/19/2015 01:41

I love the animation on the cables.

user
Gas 13 (Level 9 Boss) @ 1/19/2015 00:15

Mesmerizing!
