Wow, took all week, didnt think i would get it done in time. Not 100% satisfied with all the gradiants (first time attempting gradiants) also the most hours ive ever logged into one pixel peice.

Made for the challange, this is Salvador dali (left) and myself between him and whats called birth of the new age man. REF

Tried some new things pallet and pixel wise, i find my pixels are a bit messy and another week i could really clean it up, doubt ill ever touch it again ... also i kept the people very simple and minimal detail to try and keep the focus on the birth which to me has alot of meaning, hope you enjoy!

ahh yes  i do see the points you are making about the lighting, light sorce and shadows. i would probably go back and fix a few things. as for the pallete choice and use of colors hidden with in shadows and such, all have to do with 3 things, 1 my in experiance in colour, 2 experimentation, and 3 because of studing dalis work (hes got some very interesting shadows/colors). i list my inexperiance as the top reason, i only recently started pixeling late last year and up to this point my life of art has consisted mainly of ink skteches and animation (just line art, very little color animations). for some reason ive always avoided colors. how ever, ive fallen in love with them and what i have learned over the last couple months (from studing other artists colors and reading text books on the science of colors) is that color is heavily affected by perception. and in a similar fasion to inbetweening in animation, colors can subconsiously stir emotional responces. im not sure what effect i was going for or what effects if any are achieved, long story short i love these challenges because they really help push my devlopment as an artist.

i do like what you did with the shadow under dali esp, and africa is way to bright to be on the dark side of the planet, i suppose i can chalk that up to using the ref directly, and actually didn t think much about lighting until i drew dali and my self. i really appreciate the crit and the altered png, its quite helpful in future endevors.

I quite like this one, although why is there all this strange color mixing in the shading?

I also wanted to give you a quick edit, to maybe help you with the depth of the image.

I just mostly wanted to pull out some light on this picture and edit the shadows so that they look at least a little more convincing.

bojlahq no dali is standing on the far left.

Jeremy i used this ref of dali for the angled view of his head, i struggled with the mustache with such a small area of pixels, in retospec i should have pixeled dali and i larger. and i gotta say i love the comment "very nice egg thing", i always called it an egg talking to people about it and found my self correcting my self err i mean the earth. i love dalis symbolism a tired out slightly deflated earth.

thanks panhandle and demon11777.

Very nice egg thing, Dali likeness could be better though (moustache should be straight rather than curly)

This is wonderful. Great solid feel to the emerging man. the only thing I would say is that the head of the man looks a little big, but that neither detracts nor interfers with the final piece.

Good capuring of Dali's posturing, good feelings about this one!
