It was my entry to X'2010 party C64 graphics compo. It took #6 place which I'm really proud off. The party was also great opportunity to meet masters like Frost or Ptoing.

The picture itself is pixeled in multicolor mode and has orange ($08) color set as background. It took a bit of experimenting to choose this color but it payed off and make pixeling a bit easier.

The statues on the picture are taken from polish statue from small town of Karpacz. I didnt knew actually that the status is a tribute to people that survived hollocaust. There were no political intetntions when i started to pixel this.

Absolutely amazing!

iLKke (Level 9 Nidan) @ 5/23/2012 16:21

Definitely my fav of your pictures!

Perhaps in part because it doesn't have the usual dithering overkill. Then again I assume the dithering looks nice on a real c64.

Cemf (Level 1 Gangster) @ 1/4/2011 05:12

 That's funny man,you created a style with dithering,really a masterpiece ;)

wimpy80 (Level 1 Depressed) @ 10/23/2010 17:42

Unbelievable.  Thats really cool the mood you got from the limited colour palette is amazing. It fits the scene perfectly.

just stopping by to say i really enjoy this one and though there might be some minor issues with e.g. the troubling outline on the legs or with the composition (the right portion of the image looks a bit "overburdened") i find this piece really really atmospheric! id definitely buy a print and hang it on the wall! :) congrats on the 6th place!

Jabber (Level 3 Private Eye) @ 10/5/2010 19:50

That's a really well-done C64 piece. The colors sometimes feel awkward but they fit this scene well.

looks awesome.. is there a way we can check out all the placing entries somewhere? nvm found

big brother (Level 11 Admiral) @ 10/5/2010 10:12

I love the tree! You really nailed the texture of the bark and the leaves. Compositionally, the piece is a little lopsided (the cramped pocket of negative space between the rightmost statue and the tree contribute to this).

Your palette usage is masterful. The atmospheric perspective gives this image a grand sense of depth.

cure (Level 11 Godfather) @ 10/5/2010 09:02

this placed WAY too low in the comp, should've gotten first in my opinion.

DawnBringer (Level 10 Maniac) @ 10/5/2010 06:27

Nice image, but this also has a C64-palette that has been desaturated a bit too much to feel genuine. There's an incorrect vertical offset of 1 pixel.

Gecimen (Level 11 Master Assassin) @ 10/5/2010 05:10

Impressive. You're really good with fat pixels you know.

Veto (Level 4 Murderer) @ 10/5/2010 04:34

what frost sais. great use of color, touching motive. excellent work carrion.

Frost (Level 6 Serial Killer) @ 10/5/2010 03:05

One of my absolute favoirutes from the compo!

Nice seeing you at the party!

thick (Level 1 Rookie) @ 10/5/2010 02:21

Amazing dithering and pixels! And in multicolor!

skamocore (Level 11 CEO) @ 10/4/2010 23:25

Beautiful, but I guess you already knew that :P

Anyway, well done.
