I think I might have taken the words too literally :P
3 colors so far, maybe I'll add more! :)

I have no idea what I'm looking at :P but regardless, awesome.

Why, it's the Space Dudes vs the Space Fishsquid battle :D
One side happily feeds on the other. Guess which one! :)

*edit* I've added a few colors and changed the palette. Here's some shading and stuff. It's very rough at the moment.

*edit2* worked on the shading a bit. Going to sleep now :)

Reminding me of gurren lagann :D

I think I prefer it with the shading. It's clearer this way. Great start :)

I might be doing this backwards, but I'm picking colors I like and then trying to figure out what to do with them. These 32 colors are what I've put together so far. All colors chosen from here- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colors - color list

Now all I have to do is decide what to draw with these. =P

---

Too many colors are hard to deal with...

I may go with these 9 instead.

I usually don't post my WIPs, but I don't want it to look like I stole an idea if someone else makes this X:

Haha you bastard! My wip is ttgl based as well

Ehehe. I totally had the Dai-Gurren in mind when making that large cruiser near the bottom of the picture. Also, color-coded sides may or may not have been inspired by one of the 'parralel works'... you know which one :D

The shading adds a bit of 3d layering to the squiddos and spaceships, I think it makes it kinda more organized and less noisy to the eye :)

Date Posted: 05 April 2011 at 1:14am
^ Yeah it kinda resembles Dai-Gurren XD At first I thought that was a TTGL fanart, that's when I realised I should post this c:

Well, I'm actually re-watching the first Macross these days, so it might as well be a SDF-1 reference :)
But really, a friend of mine made http://j.mp/fZRP0t - a spaceship that inspired me to make this piece in the first place :) (hope the link works, it's on FB)

Yeah it works, and it's quite awesome ^^

I made some additional shading, do you think this improves anything?

Also, frame.

Ohh thats Parallel works # 8 :D Lord Genome's back story. Probably my favorite one next to kittan Zero!

This challenge instantly screamed War of the Worlds to me so here is my WIP

I decided to go with the Spielberg version of the tripods because I just think they're more badass.

That tripod is already looking awesome. I hope we get to see it finished soon!

I went through a lot of ideas- ninja vs ninja, chocolate vs vanilla, godzilla vs a care bear, a small space fighter vs a super battleship gradius style, mario vs luigi, etc. But here's a different take on the challenge.

I may change the palette again to be more taupe focused, but maybe not.

If I can get this done early, do any of those other ideas I listed sound good?

that pokemon battle won't be that great. squirtle's a water-type, geodude stands no chance!

I like the space squid vs. ships thing, I thought the 3 color version was best tho

Small update, I'll probably lower the colour count a little later, and edit the colours some more. But first! Shading.

Also, the light from above, it's just the general idea, that part is a major wip. I experimentet a lot with this update, rather than refined.

Thank you, Mrmo.

14 colors used so far. I don't know what else to do.

I would say that you should just focus on refining edges and pixel clusters for the rest of the time because if you add anything else you risk overworking it.

I really like how it's turning out, great job.

Hello member i am new here can anybody help me  how can use this

THUNDER!

Here's a wippy animation:

I may or may not leave it like this, the 6-color palette isn't likely to change, either.

@Exxo: needs a giant gunmen face in the bg :P
@Xamllew: that piece turned out pretty great. I like the subtle lighting effects.
@tanuki: I see what you're making there :)
@ranazahid: you accidentally the Post Reply button?

*edit* Hey, I've just realised the upper large fish-thing has a very similar mouth to http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3425/3888106367_c65c34e0d0.jpg - Dokaknel from Patapon O_O

^Lol, there IS a giant gumen face in the background. Just kinda hard to tell right now.

Edit: Looking sweet btw, the thunder that is.

Posted By: mikewest
Date Posted: 07 April 2011 at 11:20am
Um, can I say that Thunder looks glorious now? The blacking out of the squids makes them look fittingly menacing.

Posted By: Mrmo Tarius
Date Posted: 07 April 2011 at 1:42pm
Well, seeing as this is your first post here, I'd say it's most flattering :)

I was thinking of enhancing the thunder animation by having it flash differently the second time (and not just recycle a few frames). If I have time, I'll try and do that :)

Still an ultra rough outline. xD Not the set colors just place keepers

I'm not looking at any reference, so if the face is off that's why. I'm avoiding even starting the hair. >____>

I'm debating back and forth on whether to just do hair or to do snakes and call her medusa.

When I think epic pokemon battle I think more along the lines of ''GYRADOS VS CHARIZARD'' OMG then kakuna vs Geodude. but each to his own I guess.

*kakauna used ´harden* *Geodude used harden*

clearly metapod vs kakuna is much more epic

Excalibur: That goes over the size restrictions, sir (250x150). Also, Mewtwo seems to be looking away from Mew, rather towards. Perhaps have one or the other facing away from the viewer and towards the opponent. Looking good though.

Oh lol. I'll have to go back to trying to re size it. 50 pixels isn't too bad though. I should be able to cut it down.

Plus I need a background because there is no transparency... :)

WIP 2. c&c, anyone?(: I need a little break...

This will probably be the final version:

@a3um: I like that a lot, maybe adding some more AA would be ok, if that's not too time-consuming.

@Mrmo Tarius - thanks, yea, I always add AA in the very end(:

I'm getting hung up on the hair, and I haven't started the hands. Not really feeling much like finishing. x_x

Posted By: Xamllew
Date Posted: 10 April 2011 at 7:46pm
The hair is looking better now, it could use more contrasting tones though. It's looking good, keep going.

Posted By: tanuki
Date Posted: 10 April 2011 at 8:42pm

I think the hair is pretty much finished. Now I just have to figure out hands and hairbrushes, and work on the ears. Also I finally fixed the color count to be the 9 that I intended by removing the last of the stray colors from the sketching stage.

Great! I suggest thinning the nose at the top though, looks a bit odd
