The Mopctopus was very famous around 198X, because it had Mops at three tentacles, so they were largely used to clean houses, even though that was illegal by then.Don't Mopctopus and drive. If your Mopctopus starts smoking, seek shelter and cover your head.

So, any ideas for the background, or comments on the overall lineart? o,o

I was about to participate in this, started an EGA vacuum cleaner varanus, but somehow lost interest in it. OK, I got stuck, this is my first try with the EGA palette, and I don't know how to continue from this point:
There's a slight chance that I'll finist it though.

This is my idea, and well... I still gotta decide about the outlines... Use thicker, more cartoony outlines, or remove the outlines? Maybe anyone has an opinion about that...?

I am gonna make more detail in it, cause its a bit empty at the moment...

looks awesome, but a 'daddy long-legs" is a spider, thus eight legs.  I know its all about the realism...

Outside of America, the name "Daddy Long-Legs" often refers to the Crane Fly which has precisely 6 legs.

I keep coming back to ideas that revolve around an actual house... Monster House seems to be monopolizing all my thoughts.

I don't mean to derail this thread, but what the hell are you guys talking about with the daddy long legs thing?  That's seriously not a spider? My whole world is crumbling.

i heard the daddy longlegs (american definition) has insanely poisonous venom, but it's fangs/mouthparts are too small to get under human skin.  HA!  what a loser.

*forgets why he's here and leaves*

ON TOPIC EDIT:
I love the
daddytosterlegs and the shorkfark :)

I've been a lurker here for awhile, and I haven't done any pixel art in ages, but these weekly challenges have inspired me.  I'm working on something for this, hopefully I will get it in.

Everybody has some pretty cool ideas so far.

Oh yeah and the daddy longlegs actually have no venom at all.  Thats a myth, I thought that was true for years though

I agree, and to prove my point here are some details against the myth about the "poisenous spider":

  • Daddy-longlegs (Opiliones) - these arachnids make their living by eating decomposing vegetative and animal matter although are opportunist predators if they can get away with it. They do not have venom glands, fangs or any other mechanism for chemically subduing their food. Therefore, they do not have poison and, by the powers of logic, cannot be poisonous from venom. Some have defensive secretions that might be poisonous to small animals if ingested. So, for these daddy-long-legs, the tale is clearly false.
  • Daddy-longlegs spiders (Pholcidae) - Here, the myth is incorrect at least in making claims that have no basis in known facts. There is no reference to any pholcid spider biting a human and causing any detrimental reaction. If these spiders were indeed deadly poisonous but couldn't bite humans, then the only way we would know that they are poisonous is by milking them and injecting the venom into humans. For a variety of reasons including Amnesty International and a humanitarian code of ethics, this research has never been done. Furthermore, there are no toxicological studies testing the lethality of pholcid venom on any mammalian system (this is usually done with mice). Therefore, no information is available on the likely toxic effects of their venom in humans, so the part of the myth about their being especially poisonous is just that: a myth. There is no scientific basis for the supposition that they are deadly poisonous and there is no reason to assume that it is true.

Oh and which one do you guys like more?

That maybe true, but hey Spider, make some changes, like removing the stairs and adding some tubes, and that could be a vacuum!
