This week's challenge will be all about letters and lettering, it seems.

Also, the two games suggested are good examples of both ends of the spectrum

Too bad I didn't wait to submit this one  It would probably fit the challenge rules, even if it would have been an interpration of the rules.

Okay, I put that here nevertheless so it can inspire some of you.

Be careful with A, E, K, M and X. They are really tricky to realise in their insometric 3 ways of being. R is not that easy as well.

Edit : This is the still picture :

No, I won't submit this to the challenge, but as it is corresponding to the theme I just show it here so it can be inspirational. (Not in its realisation of course  but more in the "embezzlement(?)" of the rule)

(By the way, what is the english term for the opposite of "pejorative" ? Because by "embezzlement" I wanted to use a word that meant "misappropriation" but in the good sense... )

Been a long time since I participated. Here's what I have so far...

Wasn't sure if it had to be a scrabble/words with friends type game.

Isn't that font from some of the Final Fantasy games on Nintendo handhelds? I think it isn't OK to use fonts like that...

Finally decided to try one of these challenges, now that I feel confident enough. I've been working on a modular, 3x3 character design for a little while now (some of the characters look a bit weird, but I tried making it as legible as possible), so I thought I'd try something with that. I upscaled it quite a bit (500%) since it's incredibly tiny, but I might upscale the original version by 200% for the final version so I can add smaller text for the score and controls, and nice little extra details to polish it up a bit more and give it a little texture.

It's kind of like a combination lock where you have to drag the dials up and down and see what words you can find. Here, I have multiple word solutions showing at once, but I might change in in the final version since I'm worried that might give people the idea you have to find multiple ones at once.

EDIT: This is likely the final version, but I'll keep myself from uploading it just now so I can take some time to see if I can revise it at all.

I guess you people are familiar with learning game clichés...

I'm going with the ole "frog jumps lily pads" thing.

Remember what I posted yesterday (a few centimeters above this post)? I scratched it. Now I'm doing something more original (and less family friendly)

Hey guys the mockups look amazing!

I just want to say that if any of you have a really good idea for it, we can talk about developing the game (I'm a experienced iPad/iPhone developer)

Make your idea come true!

Ok shaturu, here's what I think:
-The size of the boxes with the letters is distracting. Try using an exact size for all of them.
-Going from ABC->Z is rather unorthodox seeing that keyboards go from QWERTY->M.
-The clock/timer has some bad banding.
-the arrow (At least I think its an arrow [right of CARROT|]) needs work
-The enemies are very nice, but the spirit could use refining (and it also has a bad case of banding).
-The text-face is a little wonky. Just seems odd and the G,W, R(on the top), and K are kind of strange looking.
The game is rather confusing (how can there be a P1 and P2 if there is only 1 keyboard? Are they sharing it?)
-The little character in the top-right is blending into the red.
-I do not know what the lines in the center signify.
-do you have another image after the first? Cause it may not have loaded. Its just a block on blank.
Anyway, keep working. I like the little characters, but it still needs work.

Thanks for the comments, crozier! I'll work on them! :D

Yeah, I agree with you on the box sizes, it looks really messy :(
Yes, and they are sharing the keyboard. I'll also work on the red character and make it green to have a contrast. The spirit is uhh yeah...kinda bad too, but thanks for the feedback, and I'll work on an edited version of it.

Many thanks

How is it now?
:D

For some reason I can't submit it even when including a valid small image

Error!

There was a problem processing your request. Please correct the following:
All pixel art requires a valid small image. Small image file must have a GIF or PNG file extension.

The image above is my detail file, and the image below is my small image.

Help would be appreciated thanks!

Well the problem is your small file is larger than 100x100, or whatever the max is. There's a lot of open transparent space that shouldn't be there. What you have to do is when you open a new document set the size to 50x50, then copy and paste your small preview file into the new document (make sure the program that you use doesn't auto scale).
I know graphics gale (and I think photoshop and gamemaker among other programs) can set the canvas size to a specific pixel, but I do not know about other programs like paint and whatnot.
EDIT: And I really suggest spending a few moments to improve on your background for that mockup.

Zombies are approching! Press TAB to switch between propositions.

One word = machine gun (Press 1)
Two correct words = MG+ Cannon (Press 2)
Three words = Air-strick. (Press F2)

It's a real time word-game. When your HP = 0, the final hope of human kind dies with you...
