Pixel Art Challenge: Stock Character Portrait

icon
This week you're challenged to create a stylised portrait of a stock character. The more stylised the better! Make the character easily identifiable as the stereotype he/she is.

Pick one of these stock characters:
  • Wise old man*
  • Mad scientist
  • Pirate
  • Caveman*
You may not use an existing character. For example, if you were making a caveman, you can't just pixel Fred Flintstone. It has to be your own interpretation of a caveman character.

*Even though these characters are listed as being male, you may make female versions of them if you like.
ie. Wise old lady/Cavewoman.

Canvas Size - Exactly 80x80
Colours - Exactly 16
Transparency - No
Animation - No

The challenge thread will have all the challenge updates. The thread is also a great place to post your WIPs.

Stupid question: wht means "Stock characters" ?

it means like an archetype.  a cliché.   A recurring character  - Like in old Kung Fu movies you have  the wise old guy,  who teaches the apprentice who avenges the death of his brother/father/mother/girlfriend/whoever ...  the characters you have seen 1000 times before lol

The point, of course, is to be challenged! I think having a specific amount of colours makes the challenge more interesting.

And, hey if you don't like the challenge you don't have to participate :P

i agree with shiru in principle, though in this challenge's case you can simply use the redundant colors on the pirate's parrot =)

I can't figure, what is the point to have 'exact number of colors' limitation? So, if somebody actually needs only 12 colors for his picture, he must add 4 'fake' (almost same) colors to meet requirements? What is the point to waste time on that?

This challenge is pretty much the way I always pixel :D I think I'll enter this one.

Just think of stock characters as very stereotypical/cliché characters =)

Hehe, portraits!

It's a beautiful second chance
When i checked the last entries there were many pieces out of challenge for not been an scene... I thought i was the only one!  Well, i'll translate the rules in spanish, maybe that will work (it's not the first time i misunderstand the rules)

----

Colores: Exactamente 16
Sin transparencia
Sin Animación
