It's kind of embarrassing that I don't have time to participate in my own callenge... Hope everyone has fun at least. Looking forward to the results.

skamocore (Level 11 CEO) @ 8/7/2008 15:57
You can pretty much define 'old' as anything...just make something from an existing painting/drawing...I think it should be alright as long as you made it before the challenge was announced.

A.B. (Level 8 Cannibal) @ 8/7/2008 10:05
How old is "old"?

cassiechihuahua (Level 1 Gangster) @ 8/6/2008 18:20
I may attempt this. I remember a unicorn I drew when I was really little..I was proud of it..pretty sure it looks really bad now. xp

jalonso (Level 11 Godfather) @ 8/6/2008 15:58
I moved them now. Blame n00b-titude and Mod-tards

Adam (Level 9 Major General) @ 8/6/2008 14:46
All five are made by newly joined members who probably submitted them accidentally to the challenge. Though I don't understand how they could get through.

0xDB (Level 5 Detective) @ 8/6/2008 14:13
Yup, 5 out of 9 entries did not meet the requirement to have a link to the original image (and I just reported them all).

PixelSpy (Level 5 Captain) @ 8/6/2008 13:07
It almost seems as if some peeps are just checking the Weekly Challenge box without fully understanding what it means...one of the entries has like 126 colors.

tomic (Level 11 Admiral) @ 8/6/2008 13:02
there are entries already? =)

Setzer (Level 8 Cannibal) @ 8/6/2008 12:30
I think its more people are slacking on checking if entries meet the requirements (I noticed a few like that with the last challenge)

WhyMe (Level 6 Hitman) @ 8/6/2008 11:11

Yeah, I noticed that too. A reference image link is not required any longer, or what?

0xDB (Level 5 Detective) @ 8/6/2008 10:39
It looks like half of the current challenge entries are missing a reference image link to the original picture.

cure (Level 11 Godfather) @ 8/5/2008 20:15
As to the "can it be a collaborative effort" question, the answer is "hell no".

artnat (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 8/5/2008 09:04
Well, depending on the point of view, excluding just a small group of digital art such as pixel art means that the larger group is allowed. I also think that 'old' means: 'made some unspecified time ago but not made strictly for this challenge'. And I'd say that 'rework' means do ANYTHING with your work without making a completely new one.
But until our challenger says something we can't be sure.

skeddles (Level 11 Psychopath) @ 8/5/2008 05:07
Does drawing or painting include computer drawings and paintings?

Does rework mean trace and color, or completely redesign?

Opacus (Level 7 Ichikyu) @ 8/5/2008 03:22
I have enough old drawings which some of might be interesting, but sadly I wouldn't know where any of em are.

0xDB (Level 5 Detective) @ 8/5/2008 01:56
tomic: So next time you're home at your parents place your task will be: digitize all your old stuff and keep it on your harddrive, because you never know when you'll need it.

Setzer (Level 8 Cannibal) @ 8/4/2008 18:05
tomic don't you just love mothers :]

tomic (Level 11 Admiral) @ 8/4/2008 17:24

i'd have to invest 1 hour driving 100 miles to my parents home and 2 hours to comb through the attic.. my mum would delay this with meals and stuff for at least 3 additional hours and driving home again would cost another hour.

7 hours for a reference. hmm, no time =)

jalonso (Level 11 Godfather) @ 8/4/2008 14:56
I dare say a 'version' of your own original.
@skeedles, Something even 1ne year old is 'old'

0xDB (Level 5 Detective) @ 8/4/2008 12:26
I hope we don't have to make an exact copy or else I would have to throw away what I have so far.

WhyMe (Level 6 Hitman) @ 8/4/2008 12:00

Does "rework" mean "make a pixeled copy" or "make a pixel-art that somehow resembles the original image"?

Ndsfreak (Level 5 Soldier) @ 8/4/2008 07:03
I don't have any drawings that would be good with pixel-art :(

Tentenn (Level 1 Rookie) @ 8/4/2008 06:43
Very cool. I have a whole collection of old drawings when I was young.

skeddles (Level 11 Psychopath) @ 8/4/2008 06:11

PixelSpy (Level 5 Captain) @ 8/4/2008 05:37
Cool challenge, ensures at least a minimum of originality

skamocore (Level 11 CEO) @ 8/4/2008 05:12
Surely most people have, at very least, some finger paintings from when they were 3 years old.

Or if the worst comes to the worst - draw something now...and then start pixelling it in 2 days time.

skeddles (Level 11 Psychopath) @ 8/4/2008 05:02
Not all people do other types of art.

Well I do, so who cares!

And how old defines old? I just started drawing like two years ago, so I hardly have any really old stuff.

theguy (Level 6 Hitman) @ 8/4/2008 04:45
Oh cool I know just the thing I want to pixel :]

EDIT: I don't know where it's gone... I have looked everywhere it could be. Damn.

artnat (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 8/4/2008 04:06
Can I use a collaborative picture (with the permission of the other artist)? Outline was by my friend but I coloured the picture.

Raytheon (Level 5 Lieutenant) @ 8/4/2008 03:47
what if i dont have any :(

tomic (Level 11 Admiral) @ 8/4/2008 02:51
damn, i've burned them all recently =D

skamocore (Level 11 CEO) @ 8/4/2008 01:59
ooh...a roll your own Natalie/Pearl challenge
