Pixelween 2006 Contest Winners

icon

I must say this Pixelween was a smashing success. There were 29 entries this year and the overall quality was much, much higher than last year's competition. A few PJ mods voted and the following pieces came away as winners...

  1. Alien vs The Mummy by Snake
  2. Gremlins vs. Critters by DarkfalzX
  3. WoTW vs. KKfOS by The B.O.B.

It was an extremely close race for every spot and several other pieces deserve recognition.  Your excellent work will live on in the gallery long after you're rotting in the ground.  Kudos!

Not sure how to thank you guys without sounding all too cheezy.

The response has been fantastic and the others put up some some admirable work as well. Great fun seing what people could cook up for the contest.

Congrats to DarkfalzX and (the)B.O.B. Well deserved.

Picking just three entries is a crying shame indeed.  Top 10 would've been nice, but we just didn't have time this year to setup voting properly.  For the next contest I promise to have voting open to all (each member gets a 1,2 and 3 vote). I just was too swamped this month to set it up.

What a pity, not 10 places as in the usual monthly top pixel art ranking, but only 3... so no medal for me Gotta try harder next time ... Anyway, congrats to the winners I think the ranking is quite justified.

I meant the GB Death v. Dracula, btw

So much great stuff here. Funny, too.  My personal favourite was Frankenstin v. Edward Scisorhands and I like the texturing+lighting on the ghost thingy from Nightmare Before Christmas. I like the GB-styled one too.

Great entries by everyone! Snake deserved it, that's one fine mummy. The winners are all definitely deserving! My personal favourite was Gas' piece.

Well deserved all around and yes, Gas got shafted.

Wow! I actually made the top 3. I thought at most, I was only 5th, compared to the others. Thanks to every one who submitted their votes, I really appreciate it.

In my opinion I thought it woulda' been this way:

  1. Alien vs. The Mummy by Snake
  2. Gremlins vx. Critters by DarkfalzX
  3. Wrong Tape by Gas13
  4. Oogie Boogie vs. The Birds by Scruffs
  5. WoTW vs. KKfOS by The B.O.B.

(Gas13 got the shaft! Conspiracy, I say The B.O.B.'s been pulling some strings...)

Thanks again everyone, and congrats to Snake and DarkfalzX as well!!

I really wanted Jakes Oogie vs the birds to win. Meh, I thought B.O.Bs was actually the best one. I thought it would get way better than third. >> Congrats all!

jah, you kids deserved to win. woulda liked to see oogie boogie vs the birds up there too but then you'd really need a top 4.

Hehe, that's exactly my top 3 :)
